Palms
Palms are naturally occurring palm species that thrive in tropical and subtropical forests, often found in understory or shaded areas. These palms, such as the iconic Rattan palm, the impressive Tachigali palm, and the smaller understory palms like the Pinanga, are well-adapted to forest ecosystems, where they contribute to the biodiversity of the environment. Unlike the tall, sun-loving ornamental palms, wild palms typically have a more compact form, with some species climbing or sprawling to reach sunlight. These palms are important for providing habitat and food for wildlife, such as birds and small mammals, and play a role in maintaining the health of the forest by stabilizing soil and aiding in the forest’s nutrient cycle.
